The Xi pledge class is a diverse group of 9 girls who love Jesus! Like many other pledge classes, we are diverse in terms of our majors, races, ages, and personality types, yet our love for Jesus knits us together so strongly that we can unhesitatingly call each other sisters. When we were pledging our pledge class theme was “surrender,” and through our pledging experience we adopted the idea of surrender in our lives.
We surrender our time, money, expectations, self-interests, and other aspects both to each other and to others, striving to reflect the love God daily displays to us in our own lives. We also enjoy spontaneous jam sessions, shopping, uncontrollable burping, wearing USC apparel and doing the SoCal Spellout when we visit UCLA’s campus, and eating large quantities of food in one sitting. Our Xi pledge class joined us in Fall 2012.
Xis, you may all be from the same decade, but if you could be a part of any decade, which would you pick and why?
Amy “snipechat piggyback hope you dream of kevin” - 90s for nsync & pokemon. Catherine “lil’ slay slay leanin’ on my sword” - I would say the 40s since I love WWII history and that era as a whole. Christina “faith, trust, and pixie dust” - I wish I could go back to the first days of time, where there was no sin so I could feel that close connection with God without doubt, worry, and all negative situations! Eunhae “arts n’ cats” - I would've said the 20s BUT I would be the 90s not only for the funky, fun fashion but also for the priceless tv-shows (Boy Meets World, Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Seinfeld) and classic movies. Also, there was quality music and the beginning of the Harry Potter series! Jessica “laughter by flashlight” - I love being a 21st century girl, thanks to the abundance of cheap desserts and gyms to work the weight back off. ;) Also, I love all of the amenities we have, and freedoms, and I love the culture and mix of people we have today. So, I'm a 21st Century American girl. Morgan “spiffy like the andrews sisters” - My hair was totally meant for the 80's! Remember the higher the hair the closer to God, y'all (just kidding). Plus, I think it'd be hilarious to be in an old 80's lab safety instructional videos! Nicolette “disco dance party” - I would be the 60s since I wear flowers in my hair a LOT (flower power!), and I'm always making posters about peace and love to decorate my room with. Paulina “a melody beyond the sea” - 20’s! I like their clothes and music! Rachel “dj longbottom…oh yeahhh!” - I'm a 21st century girl 'cause I like the era I'm in.......and I like the fashion I wear.
